Chapter 236: A Belt, A Lesson, and a Misunderstanding

A Belt, A Lesson, and a Misunderstanding

"That’s good then."

Senior Miracle Doctor Ravenswood let out a long relieved sigh.

The old man’s shoulders visibly loosened, as though a weight had finally been lifted from his chest. A moment later, he adjusted his glasses and reached back toward the thick medical book resting beside him, fingers brushing against the slightly worn pages.

Amara quietly looked at him.

Her eyes blinked once.

Then twice.

But while her face remained calm, her thoughts had already wandered somewhere completely different.

Grandpa...

Julian is an amazing man.

That’s practically a universal truth.

Someone kind, calm, dependable... and somehow unexpectedly funny too.

The kind of person who made others feel comfortable without even trying.

The kind of person who didn’t force his way into people’s lives, yet somehow quietly walked into their hearts before they even realized it.

Her fingers unconsciously tightened around the bouquet in her arms.

The flowers softly crinkled under the slight pressure.

Their faint fragrance still lingered around her, drifting gently into the air.

Without realizing it, a tiny smile appeared on her lips.

Warm.

Small.

Soft.

Then—

Her eyes widened slightly.

She suddenly shook her head hard.

No.

No, no.

Dangerous thoughts.

Very dangerous thoughts.

If Grandpa heard even half of that...

Forget heart attacks.

He’d probably skip several steps entirely and start discussing future grandchildren while printing wedding invitations in bulk.

Amara could practically imagine it.

"Excellent! Excellent! This old man knew it! My granddaughter has finally fallen in love!"

"..."

A faint chill ran down her back.

Nope.

Absolutely not.

Those thoughts were immediately thrown into the deepest corner of her mind and locked away.

Some things were much safer staying inside her own heart.

She coughed lightly and forced herself to sound normal.

"By the way, Grandpa, I learned some medical skills from Julian today, specifically the Acupuncture Therapy techniques from the Miracle Medicine Record."

The old man’s hand suddenly stopped moving.

Completely.

Even the page he had been about to turn froze halfway.

"...Really?"

He slowly raised his head.

His eyes widened.

The relaxed expression on his face disappeared almost instantly, replaced by seriousness.

The Miracle Medicine Record wasn’t something ordinary.

No—

Calling it extraordinary would be understating it.

As someone who had devoted his entire life to ancient medicine, he understood better than anyone what those words meant.

Some techniques inside it had nearly disappeared with time itself.

Many doctors spent their whole lives searching for fragments and still found nothing.

Yet now...

Amara nodded with a little pride visible on her face.

"Yes."

Then her lips curved upward slightly.

"Let me teach you."

For a brief moment—

Senior Miracle Doctor Ravenswood simply stared at her.

Then his eyes suddenly lit up like a child discovering treasure.

"Quick! Sit down!"

The old man practically moved faster than someone his age had any right to.

Amara almost laughed seeing his reaction.

Soon, the quiet backyard slowly filled with voices.

One old.

One young.

Grandfather and granddaughter sat beneath the warm courtyard lights while cool night wind brushed through the nearby trees.

Leaves rustled softly.

The fragrance of flowers drifted through the air.

Questions.

Answers.

Explanations.

Corrections.

Occasional moments where the old man frowned deeply before suddenly slapping his leg in realization.

"Wait—so that’s how the circulation changes?"

"No, Grandpa, not there."

"Hm? Why not?"

"Because if you apply force there first, the energy flow becomes unstable."

"Ohhh..."

Then a few minutes later—

"No wait, explain that part again."

Amara sighed.

"...Grandpa, I literally explained it ten seconds ago."

"Hmph! This old man is testing you!"

"...You forgot."

"...Continue."

Amara looked at him silently.

The old man looked away.

A few seconds later, both quietly pretended nothing happened.

The peaceful atmosphere continued beneath the night sky.

And without anyone noticing—

Time quietly passed.

...

After driving home, Julian was about to head to his room.

The villa remained peaceful.

Soft lighting illuminated the halls while faint television sounds echoed from the living room.

Julian stretched lazily.

Today’s trip had unexpectedly been quite entertaining.

But after taking just a few steps, he suddenly felt a gust of wind behind him.

His instincts immediately reacted.

Then—

Snap!

A burning pain spread across his back.

Julian immediately yelped in pain, jumping forward a few steps before turning around to see his father.

Gary D’Aurelius stood behind the door with a sly smile, holding a belt.

Seeing Julian’s reaction, his eyes were filled with satisfaction and relief.

He knew he still had it in him.

"Damn, Dad, what are you doing?"

Julian grumbled, clutching his burning back.

This old man...

Why was he sneaking up on him?

He had been careless and didn’t use the undestroyable Barrier Skill for protection.

"Just checking if you’re still normal."

Gary buckled his belt with satisfaction and patted Julian’s shoulder.

Regaining his confidence, he was in a great mood.

"Mom, look at him."

Julian complained helplessly as he looked toward the sofa.

Veena D’Aurelius sat there calmly drinking tea.

But this time—

For once—

She didn’t stand on her son’s side.

Instead, she glared at him.

"You deserved it. Your dad did well."

Julian stared blankly.

"...Why is it well-deserved?"

He suddenly felt wronged.

Recently his family treatment status seemed to be declining rapidly.

"Why did you bring another girl home? And such a pretty girl too. It’s not a good influence."

Veena looked puzzled.

Recently, a young and beautiful girl had come to their house claiming to be Julian’s friend and wanting to work as a maid because of her close relationship with him.

And now another girl had appeared.

Also brought by him.

This guy was already engaged.

What would the Aurevale family think if they found out?

Julian blinked.

Then his expression slowly became strange.

Liza, right?"
