Chapter 867: Jealousy
Chapter 867: Jealousy
"It’s okay, Dad also guessed you were in surgery." Caleb Woodward said considerately, "The patient is most important. We’ve saved dinner for you and my brother-in-law. Take your time, no rush, don’t wear yourself out."
"Okay, big brother." Claire Woodward hung up the phone, and the softness on her face dissipated.
Her big brother was good in every way, except in learning Ancient Chinese Medicine; he truly lacked talent. Such a person is destined not to bring the family back to its former glory.
Only she is the best choice as Family Head. Hopefully, Dad won’t do what he did before, saying things like medical ethics come first, and hand over the entire Sixth Woodward Hall to her brother.
Once she becomes the Family Head, the first thing she’ll do is to take back the Sixth Woodward Hall!
Claire Woodward gritted her teeth, called Mio Osborne, and headed back to the hospital to retrieve her personal belongings.
However, Mio Osborne’s phone was unreachable. Agitated, she put her phone back in her pocket and took a detour forward.
The hospital is like a small world; there’s no need to guess—what happened in the operating room must have spread everywhere.
Claire Woodward didn’t want to be stared at with strange eyes, so she deliberately avoided the hospital’s main entrance, heading to the office from the back of the inpatient department.
But just as she was ready to leave the office with her things, she suddenly heard the voices of two nurses outside.
Panicking, Claire Woodward looked around, gritted her teeth, and crouched under the desk.
The two nurses didn’t notice anyone else in the office and sat down while talking.
Claire was anxious for the two to leave, but suddenly she heard one of them mention her.
"Hey, did you hear about what happened with Doctor Woodward in the emergency room?"
"Of course, it spread everywhere! Who would’ve thought Doctor Woodward would be like that. You think she and Summer Monroe have some beef? She saved a patient, and yet Doctor Woodward seemed like she didn’t want Summer to succeed... What’s the grudge?"
"Maybe there’s no grudge at all. I’ve long seen that Doctor Woodward is quite jealous. Maybe she’s simply envious that someone who’s just a coffee shop ambassador has better medical skills than her."
"Could be, tut-tut, never judge a book by its cover!"
"But Summer Monroe truly deserves to be our goddess, so kind and skilled. Not only did she donate ten expensive cardiac robots to our hospital, but she’s also proficient in medicine. I heard from doctors involved in that surgery that it was doomed to fail, with almost zero success rate!"
"This is practically a resurrection! Amazing!"
"No wonder the Young Master let Summer Monroe take over Doctor Woodward’s position. Now, Doctor Woodward’s seat belongs to her."
"It’s not really taking over; she’s just an external consultant hired by the Young Master, occasionally coming over, completely on a different level than Doctor Woodward."
Claire Woodward felt suffocated and hot under the desk. Hearing the two nurses’ conversation, she was almost unable to resist bursting out to confront them.
Is gossiping about people behind their backs that amusing?!
Gossipy women!
At that moment, the nurse bell rang.
The two chatting nurses quickly stood up.
"It’s bed 11. Quick! Go!"
They hurriedly left.
Claire Woodward waited until the footsteps were no longer audible before crawling out from under the desk.
There was a mirror on her desk, and when she stood up, she saw how disheveled she looked.
"Damn it—" she furiously slammed the desk and, worried about being discovered, promptly grabbed her things and left.
But before she left, Claire Woodward suddenly glanced at her desk.
