Chapter 1526: Wedding Pranks
Chapter 1526: Wedding Pranks
Ethan Barnes furrowed his brows, looking at his friend, Daniel Langdon, "What, have you taken a fancy to the bridesmaid?"
Daniel Langdon looked at Celeste Linden, smiled, but said nothing.
"Groom, the auspicious time has arrived; you can bow with the bride." The matron announced cheerfully.
Celeste Linden led Carlotta forward, handing Carlotta’s little hand to Ethan Barnes.
Ethan Barnes glanced at Celeste Linden, then took Carlotta’s hand.
As the bride and groom began to bow, everyone excitedly surged forward, and someone accidentally bumped into Celeste Linden, causing her to stagger back a few steps.
Just then, a pair of hands reached out, very gentlemanly, supporting her, "Careful! Are you okay?"
Celeste Linden turned her head and saw Daniel Langdon, "You are?"
Daniel Langdon, the youngest university professor, a man of literary refinement and elegance, introduced himself, "Hello, my name is Daniel Langdon, a friend of the groom."
Ethan Barnes surprisingly has a good friend, and these two friends seem to be polar opposites in personality, one refined and the other martial.
Celeste Linden withdrew her arm politely and thanked him, "I’m Celeste Linden, thank you."
Linden?
Daniel Langdon felt this name suited Celeste Linden, as her initial impression was like a spring breeze, gentle and unstained, "Miss Linden, are you Ethan’s friend or Carlotta’s sister’s friend? Why haven’t I seen you before?"
Daniel Langdon grew up with Ethan Barnes and Carlotta, familiar with everyone around them, but he had never met Celeste Linden.
This question truly stumped Celeste Linden; she also didn’t know in what capacity she was staying there; it made her situation quite awkward.
Celeste Linden smiled, "You should ask your good friend about that, because I don’t know how to answer you either."
Daniel Langdon found this response quite strange; as he looked at Celeste Linden, her eyes were completely clear, untainted by dust, meeting his gaze without any reservation or avoidance, appearing very candid. It was hard not to feel affection for such a girl.
Just then, a voice rang out teasingly; Ethan Barnes and Carlotta were starting to bow, and the matron shouted, "The auspicious time has arrived; groom and bride, bow to Heaven and Earth."
Ethan Barnes and Carlotta held onto a red ribbon, deeply bowing toward the direction of Heaven and Earth.
"Second bow to the parents."
Since Ethan Barnes and Carlotta both no longer have parents, although the seat for them was empty, they both deeply bowed toward that position, thus considered to have paid their respects.
"Bow to each other as husband and wife."
Following the matron’s call, Ethan Barnes and Carlotta began to bow facing each other.
Lastly, the matron said, "Ceremony complete, escort to the bridal chamber!"
Oh oh oh.
Everyone started cheering, and Ethan Barnes led Carlotta into the bridal chamber.
In the bridal chamber, a lot of people crowded in, eager to cause a ruckus; someone said, "King Hayden, where’s the joyous scale? Quickly lift the bride’s red veil with the joyous scale so I can have a good look at Princess Hayden’s stunning appearance."
"I think Princess Hayden must have the beauty to bring down empires, enough to captivate King Hayden and make him settle down."
Everyone was egging on, and as the bridesmaid, Celeste Linden instinctively picked up the joyous scale and handed it to Ethan Barnes.
Ethan Barnes looked at Celeste Linden, accepted the joyous scale, and then lifted Carlotta’s red veil.
Today, Carlotta wore a delicate light makeup; though she is naturally pretty, she couldn’t compare to those unrivaled beauties. Moreover, she didn’t possess the unforgettable aura like Celeste Linden, leaving everyone a bit disappointed.
It’s often said that higher expectations bring greater disappointment; probably that’s what it means.
Everyone was momentarily stunned but quickly praised,
"Wow, the bride is truly beautiful; apparently, King Hayden likes this type, a demure beauty, ideal for household harmony."
"May King Hayden and the bride have a happy union and bear many children soon."
Carlotta clearly felt the crowd’s insincere compliments; what does household harmony mean? It was probably a remark to belittle her.
However, Carlotta also knew her own worth; she could only marry Ethan Barnes because of childhood feelings. Over the years, Ethan Barnes has risen high, and she, married to a village man, suffered greatly; she wasn’t worthy of Ethan Barnes anymore.
Carlotta could only manage a forced smile, showing Ethan Barnes a shy yet hesitant smile.
Ethan Barnes showed no expression, and no one could guess what he was thinking.
Just then, the crowd continued egging, "King Hayden, we came here for the wedding pranks; how do you want us to prank? You won’t get angry if we go too far, will you?"
"I think let the king and the bride eat a red date together, and have them kiss in front of us."
"I think let King Hayden perform the Pigsy carrying the bride and then roll on the bed together; that would be fun."
The crowd began to discuss noisily about how to prank, Carlotta’s face turned red immediately; she finally felt a bit of new marriage happiness.
For pranks, she definitely needed to have a bit of intimate interaction with Ethan Barnes; it felt so blissful.
"Ethan~" Carlotta called softly, eagerly anticipating this wedding prank segment.
Just then, Ethan Barnes put down the joyous scale, looked at everyone, and said, "Today, the bride is already very tired; let’s skip the wedding pranks. You can all leave."
What, no wedding pranks?
And his reason was her being tired?
Carlotta wished she could jump up and shout, I’m not tired at all, not even a bit tired, let’s get up and party!
"King Hayden, how can we have a wedding without pranks? Don’t joke."
"Exactly, King Hayden, we’ll keep it low-key, promising not to tire the bride out."
Ethan Barnes’ gaze carelessly swept over everyone, he moved his thin lips and said softly, "I asked you all to leave, do you really not want to?"
Everyone exchanged glances; Ethan Barnes was clearly asking them to leave.
"Alright, King Hayden, we’ll leave now."
Everyone hurriedly ran out, afraid anyone slower would face misfortune.
Once everyone was gone, the bridal chamber immediately quieted down, Carlotta resentfully tossed her red veil onto the marital bed, accusing, "Ethan, are you doing this on purpose?"
Ethan Barnes’ expression remained calm, "Carlotta, get some rest; I’m going out to entertain the guests."
His nonchalant attitude made Carlotta feel like she was punching into cotton, but in front of Daniel Langdon and Celeste Linden, she didn’t want to embarrass herself.
"Alright, Ethan, drink less wine later; we still have the bridal chamber to look forward to."
After all, the final segment couldn’t be escaped; tonight she’ll become Ethan Barnes’ woman, eagerly waiting to turn raw rice into cooked rice.
Celeste Linden constantly minimized her presence; attending at Carlotta’s request, she treated herself as a mere tool, disregarding whatever Ethan Barnes and Carlotta did or said.
Just then, she felt Ethan Barnes’ gaze fall upon her.
He was looking at her.
