Chapter 1369 - 785: Brazen and Boisterous, a Mind Unruly After Wine
Chapter 1369 - 785: Brazen and Boisterous, a Mind Unruly After Wine
The spring night brings a sudden swift rain, silent as the idle flowers fall to the ground.
As the rain subsides, the once bustling Jiang Mansion also quiets down. The old lady, not yet asleep, holds Jiang Shiyi in conversation in her room.
"That boy Chengsi, despite his unreliable appearance, has good taste. The girl from the Si Family is genuinely nice, knows her manners, and more importantly, they like each other."
After a busy day, the old lady leans back in her wicker chair. Though she looks tired, there’s a smile on her lips, "If Chengsi gets married, I’ll have one less worry."
"Watching you brothers getting married and having children one by one, I really feel I’m getting old."
...
Initially, Jiang Shiyi thought the old lady was just reminiscing about the years passing, and true enough, three sentences in, she started urging him to marry.
"Shiyi, out of you brothers, aside from Yanting, you’re the least worrisome. Grandma is getting old, and to be honest, could go at any time. I just want to see all of you brothers settled down in my lifetime, do you understand what I mean?"
The old lady isn’t trying to force him, but time waits for no one, and she doesn’t have much left.
"If your brother were still around, then..."
Having drunk a little tonight and with an anniversary approaching, the old lady is inevitably more sentimental.
"Grandma, I’ll hurry up."
The old lady nods, "Chengsi is dating now, and I’ve worried enough about him. You need to make it easier for me."
He nods in agreement...
Little did he know, when he dated, it wasn’t any less troublesome for the old lady, causing quite a stir, not less than Jiang Chengsi.
Exasperated, the old lady said these two brothers are trying to drive her to death.
Jiang Shiyi served the old lady to bed, and on his way back to his room, he ran into Jiang Jinsang. Jinsang was holding Jiang Xiaowai, standing by a window enjoying the view. It was pitch black outside, with only the street lamps casting shadows of a few tree clumps.
The little guy was watching intently. Seeing Jiang Shiyi approach, he waved his arms and babbled, seemingly wanting a hug.
"Third Brother?"
"I’m going back to rest."
The last time Jiang Shiyi was tormented by the little one, he ended up with snot bubbles and tears all over his clothes, making his scalp tingle at the thought. He steered clear of the father-son duo and went straight back to his room.
Jiang Jinsang was bemused. Is his son really that scary? Does it have to be like this?
"Ah—" Jiang Xiaowai kept waving at his retreating figure.
"Stop shouting, you scared him away."
"Scared away?" Tang Wan emerged from the room, having just showered. "Don’t stand outside, come back in."
After returning to the room, the little guy lay between them, occasionally wriggling his body, happily playing by himself.
"Your uncle will be leaving soon; in a couple of days, we’re having dinner at the Huo Family’s. Don’t forget," Tang Wan reminded.
"I know."
Tang Wan noticed Jiang Jinsang’s attention was fixated on their son, seemingly distracted, "Fifth Brother, what are you looking at?"
"I’m wondering when this little guy will sleep on his own."
Jiang Xiaowai: "..."
Actually, taking care of the child wasn’t a problem. It’s just that with an extra person in the room, even if he wanted to get a bit intimate with Tang Wan, he felt uncomfortable all over.
Once he just kissed Tang Wan, and when he turned his head, he caught the little one on the small bed staring at him unblinkingly, which was somewhat creepy.
"By the way, isn’t Fourth Brother asleep? I think I saw the light on in the study." Tang Wan changed the topic.
"Seems like he’s still studying." Jiang Jinsang had passed the study with the child in his arms earlier and noticed Jiang Chengsi was still reading.
"Love indeed changes people."
"It might not be love that’s changing him, but me."
"Hmm?"
"I do random checks on his study progress."
"..."
**
Speaking of Jiang Chengsi, he had daily study tasks. Having lost an afternoon today and unable to sleep at night, he used the time to catch up on his coursework.
Everyone has laziness in them, especially on significant days. Though Jiang Chengsi may appear flippant, he’s not entirely useless. With everyone helping him, he must put in more effort himself.
By the time he finished reading, it was past two in the morning. As he was about to return to his room to rest, he hesitated when passing the guest room and decided to check on Si Qingxiao.
Quietly opening the door, the room was dark, save for a small night light by the bed. Softly closing the door, he moved two steps inside.
After all, it was a guest room with little furnishings, only a big bed and a set of table and chairs, so one walking in immediately saw the person lying on the big bed...
And the scene before him instantly made his head heat up, his ears burning crimson in an instant.
