Chapter 410 - 282: She Needs Me and Azure Fish Scales

Inside the room.

Ze Sheng requested some time alone for the two of them.

Ling Hong stared at him coldly for a moment before leading his men out. He pressed himself against the corner of the wall, ready to prevent any trickery that might lead to the female being taken away.

Only after everyone was gone did Ze Sheng release the female from his embrace. His gaze swept over her rosy, healthy face, a hint of a smile in his eyes.

He then lowered his head to rest his forehead against hers, letting out a soft, smiling sigh. "It seems that man has taken good care of you. I was worried for nothing. Are you used to staying here?" The man’s voice deepened. "This is... the first time you’ve been away from me for so long..."

"I feel a sense of familiarity with this city, and Ling Hong and Chi Li have been very good to me. They’ve taken great care of me." Wamiya shook her head as she spoke, wrapping her arms around his long neck and snuggling closer. "But I still like Ze Sheng best!"

The man’s expression shifted, moved. He didn’t seem to expect that answer, and his once placid features deepened with intensity. He lowered his head and pressed his lips to her soft ones, covering them completely.

He struggled to restrain his emotions and quickly pulled back, leaving only a faint trace on her delicate lips, a touch as light as a dragonfly skimming water.

"A blood exchange isn’t a wise choice. They still don’t understand. Only someone who is truly your blood kin is qualified to perform a complete exchange." He lowered his head and bit his finger, his voice softening. "But not now."

The bead of blood welling from the wound suddenly swelled, and a thin stream trickled down the elegant joints of his finger, which he brought to her lips.

She took it into her mouth.

The taste of blood wasn’t strong; instead, it was intoxicatingly sweet.

Wamiya couldn’t resist the sweetness. She lowered her head, taking his damp fingertip into her mouth and licking the blood away. As she did, her previously clear expression clouded over once more with confusion.

Ze Sheng lowered his gaze, partially covering his face with his hand to forcibly chase away the exhaustion in his eyes. A faint smile, however, tugged at the corner of his lips.

’He would make her hopelessly dependent on him.’

"Feeling better?" Ze Sheng concealed the deep meaning in his eyes and looked up, his voice soft.

She nodded lightly, licking her moist lips. Then she stood up to hug him, but the man before her suddenly HISSED in pain and staggered back a couple of steps.

"What’s wrong?" she asked anxiously.

’Is he hurt?’

As if sensing something, she reached out and tore open the fabric over his chest. His elegant collarbones and handsome, firm pectoral muscles were revealed, but the sight of a gruesome wound that pierced straight through him made her heart skip a beat.

It was like a flaw in a piece of perfect, uncut jade.

"This is... Who could have hurt you? Who did this?" A resentful mist clouded her eyes, and her fingers tightened, wrinkling the fabric of the man’s lapel.

"It’s nothing." He smiled nonchalantly and enclosed her hand in his. "Just a couple of clingy, troublesome fellows. It’s just a small injury. Don’t worry about it, it’ll heal soon."

"How is this a small injury?"

He chuckled, then said slowly, "Don’t worry about me. I’ve lived for so many years and had injuries far worse than this. You, on the other hand, need to be careful of a certain Snake Beast."

"A Snake Beast? Was he the one who hurt you?"

Ze Sheng didn’t deny it. "That wandering Snake Beast has a violent temperament and likes to snatch females from all over. If you encounter him, you must not be deceived by him, understand?"

"That Snake Beast’s name... is it Mi Yin?" she asked suddenly.

Ze Sheng’s expression changed slightly. The calmness in his eyes turned into something deeper, and his voice was tinged with an unreadable chill. "...You’ve met him?"

"A while ago, when I was kidnapped by those Beastmen, he was the one who led a group of Demon Beasts to kill them. And so, so many other Beastmen too." Wamiya lowered her head, fidgeting with her fingers and mumbling, "I was so scared then. I wanted to run, but I couldn’t get away. He caught me and took me to a cave, but he didn’t hurt me. I thought he was a good beastman... I can’t believe he had such intentions all along!"

"And he hurt you," Wamiya said, growing angrier as she spoke. There was also a strange sense of grievance, as if her feelings had been betrayed.

Ze Sheng couldn’t help but smile. He gently pinched her pouting cheek. "My injury is fine." ’Although things didn’t go exactly as planned,’ he thought, ’the objective has been achieved.’

’He needed her to feel an instinctual resistance or even disgust toward her previous mates, especially that Snake Beast.’

’In the end, she belongs to him and him alone.’

"Are you done talking?"

Ling Hong, who had been waiting at the door for what felt like an eternity, finally lost his patience.

’Letting Jin’er be with a male of such impure intentions was like leaving a sheep in a tiger’s den. The longer it went on, the more unsettling it became!’

Ze Sheng released the person in his arms. He glanced at the figure rushing in and, meeting the man’s wary gaze, chuckled. "Relax, I won’t take her away. I am genuinely happy to see you two reunited."

Ling Hong sneered. "The height of hypocrisy. What are you really after? I don’t like beating around the bush." ’He didn’t for a second believe the man was just here for a friendly chat.’

"I don’t have any particular plans for now. I was just wondering if I could stay here and accompany her for a while?"

"Besides, you know she needs me."

The weather had cleared up recently, and with Wamiya’s health improving, she chose a bright, sunny day to go for a stroll.

With her frequent appearances, many people in the city had begun to notice the beautiful young female.

Many recently matured male Beastmen wanted to approach her and get acquainted, but without exception, they all backed down after seeing Ling Hong by her side.

’The Lord City Lord already has a cub, why would he be with another female...?’

Such thoughts began to bubble up in the minds of many young Beastmen.

In the Beast World, males were naturally fated to choose only one female, destined to live a lonely life if their mate died. Moreover, the Lord City Lord was a Silver Wolf, a clan renowned for their loyalty to their mates. Could it be that he was using his high status to break the rules and take a new partner?

However, before such speculation could spread, many of the city’s respected Old Beastmen stepped forward to shatter these absurd rumors.

Most of these middle-aged and elderly Beastmen were from the group that had followed An Jin back in the day.

Beastmen have relatively short lifespans, beginning to age after an average of thirty years. Without the nourishment of Beast Crystals, these ordinary Beastmen had rapidly aged from middle to old age in just a decade.

They recognized An Jin at a glance, her face completely unchanged by time.

Tears streamed down their aged faces, but deterred by Ling Hong’s unapproachable aura, none dared to go forward and ask questions. Instead, they turned their attention to their own disrespectful descendants.

"What is all this nonsense you’re spouting out here all day? That is the founder of our city, the first City Lord, and the first female City Lord in the history of the Beast World!"

"Could that be the female hailed as the Beast God Goddess?!"

"Yes, she’s so beautiful, exactly as the ancient records describe. If only I were lucky enough to become one of her mates..."

A look of infatuation filled the Beastman’s eyes, but before he could finish his sentence, he was met with a sharp WHACK on the head from his own father!

’Your old man used to have the same dream!’

Wamiya arrived before a massive, oval-shaped pool.

The water was a faint turquoise, shimmering and rippling with the breeze.

She didn’t know which lake the pool was connected to, but there were quite a few fish swimming within it. A sense of familiarity welled up in her eyes, and by the time she came to her senses, she was already leaning over the round platform built along the pool’s edge.

She gazed at the reflection of the beautiful female in the pool. She blinked, and the beautiful female blinked back.

Her heart stirred. She leaned down, extending an arm as delicate and pale as a lotus root to swirl it in the water, creating faint ripples.

Several small, colorful fish swam over, flicking their tails, and gently nibbled at her fingers.

Suddenly,

a long, slender, and coolly pale arm shot out of the water and seized her hand, its azure scales glinting with a cold light.

"Ah Jin?"
